Gilles Simon became the latest seed to fall in the first round at Wimbledon this evening as Spaniard Feliciano Lopez knocked out the Frenchman in straight sets.
Lopez, considered a grass-court specialist because of his serve and prowess at the net, got off to the perfect start by breaking to love in the opening game before taking the first set 6-2.
It was a similar story in the second as Lopez again broke straight away and that break of serve was enough to take the set 6-4.
The third was much closer and went to a tie-break, which Lopez came through 13-11 to reach the second round.
In all three sets Lopez didn't offer a single break point to Simon.
He will now face either Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania or France's Paul-Henri Mathieu.
