Number eight seed Ekaterina Makarova has secured her place in the second round of Wimbledon courtesy of a straight-sets win over America's Sachia Vickery.
The Russian had a strong start to the match as she was dominant on her serve and carved out two break points to secure the first set 6-2.
Vickery responded in the second with an early break to take a 3-0 lead, but Makarova came roaring back into the match with two breaks of her own to take the set 6-4 and clinch her place in the next stage of the competition.
The 27-year-old will face either Karin Knapp or Magdalena Rybarikova in the second round.
