Gilles Simon has booked his place in the second round at Wimbledon with a four-set victory over Janko Tipsarevic.
The 16th seed has not enjoyed his time on grass this year but he showed signs of getting back to his best after battling his way to a win over the Serbian.
Tipsarevic is still working his way back from a long-term injury but he won almost half of the points on Simon's serve to break twice in the opening set.
However, Simon improved during the second as he restored parity before he struck again at the end of the third to move closer to the win.
Tipsarevic remained dangerous in his return games in the fourth but he could not break through and Simon was able to advance by a 4-6 6-4 7-5 6-3 scoreline.
Former semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov awaits Simon in a mouthwatering clash on Wednesday.
