Dominic Thiem has secured a place in the second round at Wimbledon after seeing off Florian Mayer in straight sets on Wednesday.
The match was halted during the day due to rain, but the interruptions did not hamper Thiem as he earned a 7-5 6-4 6-4 victory on the grass court.
It was a tense opener as both players were strong on serve, but it was Thiem who took a stronghold of the contest by going a break up before serving for the set.
Mayer struggled to find his feet as he failed to produce a break point in the second set - in fact he did not create a single one during the entire match - but it was a different story for Thiem as he broke again to take a dominant two-set lead.
The 22-year-old Austrian's single break in the third was enough to put him through to the next phase of the Grand Slam.
