British number one Johanna Konta will not compete in the WTA Finals in Singapore after she lost the eighth and final place following a result in the Kremlin Cup.
After an impressive campaign, which resulted in the 25-year-old being named the WTA's Most Improved Player of the Year, Konta was on the verge of competing against the top seven on the tour.
However, she was ousted when Svetlana Kuznetsova sealed a 6-2 6-1 victory over Daria Gavrilova in the Kremlin Cup to claim the final spot in the season-ending tournament.
Konta, who has not played this week because of an abdominal injury, is already in Singapore, and will only feature in the Finals if a player withdraws.
Kuznetsova last played in the tournament in 2009.
