Angelique Kerber has claimed her second consecutive victory at the WTA Finals in Singapore by overcoming Simona Halep in straight sets.
The world number one recorded her 61st triumph of the year - one more than her best run in 2012 - as she defeated her red group opponent 6-4 6-2 in one hour and 24 minutes.
It was the perfect start from the German as she went a break up at the first time of asking, but Halep kept herself in contention by later breaking back at 3-3.
Kerber was not affected by the wobble, though, as she snatched her opponent's serve to earn a one-set lead in 44 minutes.
In the second set, Halep created two break points after losing her opening service game, but she could not bring down the Australian and US Open champion.
Kerber broke again before claiming victory on her third match point.
