Cris Cyborg successfully defends her Bellator featherweight title with a quick stoppage of Ireland's Sinead Kavanagh.

Sinead Kavanagh has failed in her bid to dethrone MMA legend Cris Cyborg after being stopped in the first round in Florida.

The Irish fighter had been hoping to cause a seismic shock against the Bellator featherweight champion in the United States.

However, Kavanagh's all-out-attack did not pay off, the challenger landing a number of blows without really troubling her opponent.

While it was Cyborg who opted for the first clinch of an absorbing opening, the American quickly ended the contest by knocking out Kavanagh after just 92 seconds.

The 36-year-old has now made three successful defences of the belt that she claimed in January 2020.

Meanwhile, Kavanagh now drops to a record of seven wins and five defeats.
