GB water polo captain Izzy Dean has admitted that the team "panicked" towards the end of their first win of the European Games this afternoon.
Nick Buller's team eventually took victory over Israel by a 13-9 scoreline, but faced a nervy finish in the final quarter when their opponents found the net five times.
"We're really happy to win but I think we did make it a little bit harder than it could have been," Dean told Sports Mole afterwards. "We panicked at some moments, but obviously to get a win is really exciting for us and we're really happy to get the result.
"It was quite a panicked atmosphere, and we should learn from that - to just cool it down if it gets tighter. I think all of us knew that we probably were the stronger team and we just stuck in there."
In the final game of the group stage tomorrow, the GB girls face Hungary, one of the tournament favourites.
"We're looking forward to it," Dean added. "Obviously it's going to be a really tough game again, but we're just going to try our hardest, hopefully improve on the bits where we were a bit panicky today, and just look to get a small a goal difference as we can."
The match begins at 2pm UK time on Tuesday.
