Team England weightlifter Rebekah Tiler has vowed to push on from her promising Commonwealth Games showing and win gold at Rio 2016.
The 15-year-old fell 5kg short of a medal earlier today in the women's -63kg discipline, twice narrowly failing to lift 123kg which would have been enough for bronze.
"It was so close on the clean and jerk," Tiler is quoted as saying by Sporting Life. "I just couldn't get the bar to stay up. But I will come back stronger for this. I nearly had it and I was screaming in my head 'yes, I've got it!' But all of a sudden my back went.
"I was trying to hang on but then I had to drop the bar. I just missed out on a medal by 5kg but I believe I can come back and win medals in the future. My dream is to be world and Olympic champion and I believe I can do that. I just need to keep working hard. I'm already preparing for Rio in two years' time.
"I just need to stay focused. Right now I feel stronger every day. There was a lot of pressure on me to get a medal but it didn't bother me. I believed I could do it. I'm disappointed but I'm only 15, I've got plenty of time ahead of me."
Cameroon's Marie Fegue took gold at the Clyde Auditorium with a total lift of 234kg.
