Great Britain's women's curling team recovered from their opening defeat to Switzerland with a crushing 8-2 victory over defending champions Sweden at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Skip Eve Muirhead and her team fell to a 6-5 loss to Switzerland in their inaugural round-robin match but capitalised on multiple errors from the Swedes to post a first win of the Games in style.

GB took a whopping four points in the fourth end as Sweden skip Anna Hasselborg bemoaned her costly mistakes, with Muirhead, Vicky Wright, Hailey Duff and Jennifer Dodds stealing three points over the fifth and seventh ends to round off an emphatic triumph.

"We played a great game out there today, I think after this morning when we didn't get the win we knew if we kept things very similar we'd get the win out there tonight, and that's exactly what we did," Muirhead told BBC Sport. "To take down the current Olympic champions in such a convincing game is very nice to finish off today."

Wright added: "It was a really good game, it felt very similar to this morning, we wanted to go out there and put a performance on and we definitely did up the shot play."

Dodds - who placed fourth in the mixed doubles with Bruce Mouat - said: "The fourth end was a real turning point, I think we got on top of our draw weight a lot and trusted the curl, especially on the left-hand side."

Finally, Olympic debutant Duff added: "It felt really good, I think it was just a step-up from this morning which is what we wanted. We really put the pressure on and it felt very natural out there."

GB's win comes after the men's team opened their Olympic account with a 7-5 victory over Italy earlier on Thursday. body check tags ::
