Team GB skier Chemmy Alcott has insisted that her 19th-place finish in the downhill competition on Wednesday felt like a gold medal for her.
Alcott has suffered three broken legs throughout her career and in her last Winter Olympics managed to finish in the top 20 in the downhill event, less than two seconds behind the joint-winners Tina Maze and Dominique Gisin.
"I never put any statistics on it, if I had then top 20 would have been massively over superseding what I expected," she told Team GB's official website.
"I know it sounds crazy to some people, especially when we have such a strong team here in Sochi, but 19th is a gold for me. Anyone who has followed what I've been through will understand that."
Lara Gut took bronze in the competition.
