Switzerland's Dario Cologna has won his second cross country skiing gold medal at the Sochi Winter Olympics with today's victory in the 15km classic.
The 27-year-old, who won the skiathlon on Sunday, also becomes the first skier to win an Olympic 15km race twice in a row, after sealing gold in the 15km freestyle at the Vancouver Olympics four years ago.
Cologna made a cautious start in the race, but had reached first place by the 8km mark and his lead never decreased as he went on to win the event.
The Swiss finished in 38:29.7 seconds, nearly four minutes ahead of Great Britain's Andrew Musgrave, who hauled himself over the finishing line with a time of 42:21.7.
Dario Cologna's time was 28.5 seconds ahead of Sweden's Johan Olsson, who won silver. Fellow Swede Daniel Richardsson secured the bronze with a finishing time of +38.8.
Norway's Martin Johnsrud Sundby, who had been tipped for at least a podium finish, finished in 13th place, according to provisional results.
