USA ski slopestyle silver medallist Gus Kenworthy is reportedly looking into adopting a family of stray dogs during his stay at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

United States ski slopestyle silver medallist Gus Kenworthy has reportedly looked into adopting a family of stray dogs during his time at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, with the intention of bringing them back to America with him.

The 22-year-old Team USA athlete, who secured a podium finish in today's slopestyle final ahead of Great Britain skier James Woods, has admitted that he is a dog lover and that finding the strays at the Games has proven to be a "fairy tale".

"There is a family of stray dogs living at the Gorki Media Centre and I'm doing all I can to try and bring it back with me," Kenworthy is reported to have told The Guardian. "There are four puppies and a mama dog. They are the cutest things ever.

"I talked to my Dad on the phone. I've been a dog lover my whole life and to find the cutest family of strays ever here at the Olympics was a fairy tale. Hopefully, I'll bring them back with me."

The Sochi Games have come under criticism after local authorities have reportedly been implementing plans to kill stray dogs.
