Donny van de Beek's agent Guido Albers has confirmed that his client will be leaving Manchester United during this summer's transfer window, but a move to another Premier League club is not an option.

The Netherlands international is currently on loan at Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, and the club have the opportunity to make it a permanent switch at the end of the season.

Albers has revealed that Frankfurt will not be taking up that option, while a return to former club Ajax has been ruled out, but Van de Beek will leave Man United this summer in a bid to reignite his career.

The 27-year-old made the move to Old Trafford from Ajax in the summer of 2020, and he has represented the Red Devils on 62 occasions in all competitions, scoring twice and providing two assists.

Van de Beek has largely struggled to make his mark for Man United, though, spending time out on loan with both Everton and Frankfurt during his time in Manchester.

Van de Beek will be on the move this summer

The Dutchman has only made eight appearances for Frankfurt during his loan spell, while a disappointing period at Everton saw him feature just seven times.

Albers has said that this will be a crucial summer when it comes to Van de Beek's career, and he is hopeful that he will be able to secure a move to Spain, Italy or France for his client.

"For me it is a very nice moment in his career to pick it up again. We said together, 'back to basics'. He's lost that a bit in recent years. He is hungry and eager to please," Albers told ESPN.

"I came to an agreement with Frankfurt for him. Frankfurt still had an option until June 30, which they will not exercise. Officially he is now going back to Manchester United and I am now in discussions with him.

Van de Beek has struggled to make his mark for Man United

"Donny does not want to stay in the Premier League, also because United do not want that. That is not a good choice for him.

"He needs to return to a club that plays good football. In any case, he will not return to Ajax. My preference was to look in Spain, Italy or France. If I could get him in Spain or Italy that would be fantastic, at a club where he will play as a No.10 like he played at Ajax.

"You see that the Dutch are successful in a certain way in Spanish or Italian football. He was very close to a transfer to Real Sociedad last summer. That was cancelled at the last minute because Erik ten Hag wanted to keep him until the last minute. Then he ended up at Frankfurt."

Van de Beek, who has lost his spot in the Dutch set-up due to his recent struggles, only has a contract with Man United until the summer of 2025.

The Red Devils are also expected to allow Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to leave the club during this summer's transfer window, and Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong is allegedly back on their radar.
