Golden Tate scores two touchdowns as the Seattle Seahawks earn a 14-9 victory over the St Louis Rams despite a late scare.

Despite rushing for 200 yards, the St Louis Rams slipped to their second home defeat of the NFL season, with two Golden Tate touchdowns enough to earn the Seattle Seahawks a 14-9 success at the Edward Jones Dome.

Seattle were able to build their advantage thanks to Tate scores either side of half time, despite quarterback Russell Wilson suffering three sacks under persistent pressure from Robert Quinn.

Wilson found Tate in the end zone from close range just before half time and then repeated the trick with a huge score in the third quarter, completing an 80-yard touchdown pass as the Rams were exposed from deep.

St Louis kept fighting and consistently got into field-goal range as the rushing efforts of Zac Stacy proved fruitful, chipping away at Seattle's lead as Greg Zuerlein drove through the posts three times.

The Rams got Zuerlein within 50 yards towards the end of the fourth quarter but he was unable to convert the field goal, a miss that the hosts would ultimately rue.

Needing a touchdown to complete a late comeback, St Louis drove to within a yard of the line, as Stacy and Daryl Richardson continued to cause the Seahawks defense problems.

Reserve Rams quarterback Kellen Clemens had a chance to win the game with the final play as he threw into the end zone, but his pass fell short as Seattle clung on to claim their seventh victory of the campaign.
