Carl Frampton sets his sights on a unification battle with IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby after beating Leo Santa Cruz to win the WBA featherweight title.

WBA featherweight champion Carl Frampton has revealed that he would be interested in a unification clash with Lee Selby later this year.

The Northern Ireland boxer dethroned defending champion Leo Santa Cruz on points in Brooklyn overnight to become a two-weight world title holder.

Frampton is open to the idea of a potential rematch with the previously unbeaten Cruz in his home city of Belfast, but is also weighing up the idea of facing reigning IBF featherweight champion Selby after only recently moving up a weight category.

"I don't think there's a rematch clause in place, but it would be a great fight, one I'd be happy to do," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "I'd love to bring him over to Belfast. We could sell out a stadium, but we'd need the right time of year.

"Lee Selby is a great fighter, someone I respect and one of the best UK fighters. That's a fight that interests me, there's Gary Russell Jr, all these guys. I just want to be involved in big fights, memorable fights. I don't need to be disrespectful to guys, I just want to get on with it."

Frampton was awarded the victory over Cruz on points at the Barclays Center, with two judges scoring the fight 117-111 and 116-112 in the Ulsterman's favour and the third ruling the contest at 114-114.
