Alastair Cook expects Jonathan Trott to return to form

England captain Alastair Cook is confident that Jonathan Trott can prove his worth by returning to form in the third Test against the West Indies.

Alastair Cook has insisted that he is expecting Jonathan Trott to find his best form when the third Test against the West Indies begins on Friday.

Despite scoring a first-innings half-century in the triumph in Grenada, a duck in his second innings has seen calls for his place to be taken by Yorkshire opener Adam Lyth.

However, Cook believes that Trott, who returned in this series after an 18-month absence due to stress-related problems, can deliver the goods at the top of the order.

"Trotty's been working hard and he is a fine, fine cricketer who is adjusting to a different role," the England captain told reporters. "Hopefully, he can do what he has done a huge amount of times in his career and produce an innings that we know he can play.

"When you don't score runs, there are always other people waiting to take your place, that is no different for Trotty.

"But he's got to relax, go out and play and be the best player he can be."

England only need to avoid defeat in Bridgetown to clinch a series win.
