Great Britain's Mark Cavendish has been discharged from hospital following his crash in the Ghent Six, according to a report.

The Deceuninck-QuickStep rider went down in the final event of Sunday's race after Lasse Norman Hansen crashed in front of him and left the arena on a stretcher.

Cavendish suffered two fractured ribs and a collapsed lung in the crash and had to be admitted to the ICU of Ghent Hospital, but Cyclingnews reports that the 36-year-old has now left hospital.

The report adds that Cavendish is back home in the UK recovering from the ordeal, and QuickStep team manager Patrick Lefevere has affirmed that the rider has not suffered any serious femur or collarbone injuries.

Cavendish posted an update on social media from his hospital bed following the incident at the Ghent Six, which was ultimately won by Kenny De Ketele and Robbe Ghys.
