Davy Klaassen's 81st-minute goal has handed Ajax a 1-0 victory over ADO Den Haag in their Eredivisie clash this afternoon.
The hosts threatened first when Ricardo Kishna was afforded space and time just outside the box, but the forward could only fire his effort over the bar.
Niklas Moisander came forward from the back for a corner and nearly put Ajax ahead as he nodded an effort towards goal from Schone's delivery, only to see his header drift wide of the target.
Just before the break, Ricardo van Rhijn raided to the edge of the box and drilled a low effort towards the bottom corner, but Martin Hansen was on hand to make a fine reaction stop.
In the second half, Ajax struggled to carve out many clear-cut chances as the visitors managed to keep them at bay with a resilient display at the back.
However, the home side finally secured the breakthrough in the 81st minute when Klaassen rose highest to meet a free kick from the left, and his header deflected off Xander Houtkoop and into the net.
