Michael Laudrup: 'Jack Wilshere isn't world class yet'

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup claims that it is too early to call Jack Wilshere a world-class player.

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has claimed that it is too early to be calling Jack Wilshere a world-class player.

The Arsenal midfielder scored the winner during the FA Cup third-round replay between the two sides on Wednesday evening and despite holding back in praise for the England international, Laudrup admitted that Wilshere has great potential.

"We're talking about a young player who had an injury coming back but I think he has a lot of potential," Laudrup told reporters. "You don't want to push your young players too much. Sometimes people are a little too fast, too quick with the big words.

"We have to let them grow because young players can always improve, that goes for Jack Wilshere too.

"To be world class you need more at the highest level. We are talking about a 21-year-old and we're already talking about him being the best."

Wilshere returned to action in October after being put out of action for over a year with an ankle injury.
