Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has reaffirmed his desire to agree a new contract.

The Arsenal academy graduate has been with the club since the age of eight, but he has struggled to nail down a starting place in the first team.

Nelson spent the majority of last season on loan at Feyenoord, where he scored four goals and provided seven assists during 32 appearances.

Although he has only started three games for Arsenal this term, he did come off the bench in the first half of October's Premier League meeting with Nottingham Forest to score two goals and register one assist in a comfortable 5-0 victory.

With his Arsenal contract set to expire at the end of the season, Nelson has previously expressed a desire to extend his deal.

The 23-year-old has reiterated his eagerness to renew his contract after featuring in Arsenal's mid-season friendlies, which included a goal in a 2-1 win over AC Milan.

When asked whether he wanted to extend his stay with the club, he told reporters: "Of course. I've been here since I was eight and Arsenal is all I know.

"I'm only a couple of minutes from the stadium, all my family is there. So of course I'd love to stay. I'm 23 now so I've been here a long time and I'm Arsenal through and through.

"So to be playing, even in games just like this [friendlies], I'm delighted. Of course injuries are just a minor setback, but of course I just look towards the future and hopefully I can play many more years at the club."

Having only made seven appearances for the Gunners this season, Nelson was questioned about his playing time.

He added: "I feel like I'm in contention. I'm getting minutes here and there which can only build my confidence and I feel like that's something that I need to excel in the team because we've got a great team.

"If the boss wants me to play five minutes, 10 minutes or 90 minutes I'll play with the same energy and same hunger throughout. I'll just be there to help the team."

Arsenal are set to play Juventus in a friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, before the Premier League leaders resume their title bid with a home game against West Ham United on Boxing Day. body check tags ::
