Arsenal survive a second-half comeback to secure a 2-1 win over Leicester City at the Emirates.

Arsenal survived a second-half fightback from Leicester City to secure a 2-1 win at the Emirates in the Premier League this evening.

The visitors made a bright start to the match, with Riyad Mahrez forcing a save from David Ospina before he turned an Estaban Cambiasso through-ball just wide.

Arsenal started to look more dangerous as the first half progressed, with Santi Cazorla trying to set up Theo Walcott, but Mark Schwarzer was able to deny the England international.

The Gunners broke the deadlock shortly before the hour mark when Mesut Ozil had a shot turned behind by Schwarzer, leaving Laurent Koscielny to smash the ball in at the near post from the resulting corner.

Arsenal continued to look the more likely as half time approached, and they added a second just before the break when Ozil was denied by the Leicester keeper again, only for Walcott to fire in from the rebound.

Arsene Wenger's side pressed for a third early in the second half as they looked to put the win beyond doubt, but Schwarzer gathered from a Cazorla delivery, while Tomas Rosicky fired wide.

Danny Simpson had a chance to pull a goal back for Nigel Pearson's side with just under an hour gone as he beat Nacho Monreal to look for a header from a Mahreez cross, but Arsenal were able to clear.

The Foxes did pull a goal back with just under half an hour to play when Andrej Kramaric rifled the ball into the bottom corner after being left unmarked by the Arsenal defence.

The visitors pressed hard as they sought an equaliser late on, but Mahrez curled the ball just wide after creating some space on the edge of the box.

Kramaric could have added his second with 10 minutes to go, but Leicester's record signing fired straight into Ospina's arms.

Leicester continued to look the more likely as full time approached, with Leonardo Ulloa trying to get a shot away in stoppage time after coming off the bench, but he could not control it.

The results leaves Leicester rooted to the foot of the table, while Arsenal jump up to fourth.
