Arsenal considering Antonio Conte as Mikel Arteta replacement?

Antonio Conte is a candidate to take over at Arsenal should Mikel Arteta be relieved of his duties, according to a report.

Arsenal are reportedly considering former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte as Mikel Arteta's successor.

The Spaniard has overseen a torrid start to the 2020-21 season with the Gunners, suffering back-to-back 2-0 defeats to Brentford and Chelsea in their first two top-flight matches.

Arsenal have been hit hard by injuries and a coronavirus outbreak in August, though, and a recent report claimed that the Gunners board were prepared to keep the faith in Arteta.

However, The Telegraph claims that Arteta now has only five games to save his job in the Emirates dugout, and Conte is a potential candidate to take over in North London.

The Italian left Inter after leading them to the Serie A crown last term, and he was one of many names linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job following his exit from San Siro.

Conte won 51 of his 76 Premier League games in charge of Chelsea and oversaw their 2016-17 title win before he was relieved of his duties in 2018. body check tags ::
