Arsene Wenger: 'Premier League title race far from over'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits to having "regrets" over his side's recent back-to-back draws, but is adamant that there is still plenty of life left in the title race.

Arsene Wenger has insisted that there is still life in Arsenal's Premier League title pursuit after seeing his side pick up a much-needed win.

The Gunners are back within 10 points of leaders Leicester City, and five adrift of Tottenham Hotspur, courtesy of a 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Alexis Sanchez scored twice for the home side inside the opening 40 minutes at the Emirates Stadium, but the North London outfit were unable to add to their tally in the second half.

It will take an almighty swing of results to go Arsenal's way if they are to make up that deficit in the remaining four games of the season, and Wenger admits to having "regrets" over his side's recent back-to-back draws against West Ham United and Crystal Palace.

"Of course we have regrets," he told Sky Sports News. "We had two draws when we should have won the game several times and when you do that you pay for it. Sunderland will be a tough battle [on Sunday]. We have a good chance to do it but it's far from done.

"We did the job in a serious way tonight. We played well technically and the only regret is we should have scored more goals. We did not always make the maximum points in other games for the quality of our play.

"The early goal helped rather than being anxious about the consequence of the result and it helped the team. It looks like Sanchez is back sharper, more confident. In the first half he was more exceptional."

Arsenal follow up Sunday's meeting with Sunderland by taking on Norwich City, Manchester City and Aston Villa in their final three outings.
