Sports Mole dissects the action as Barcelona record a 6-1 win over Getafe on Sunday.

Lionel Messi scored in his 13th La Liga match in a row as Barcelona recorded a 6-1 win over Getafe on Sunday.

It took just six minutes for the home side to open the scoring with Alexis Sanchez dispatching from close range to score his first league goal of the season.

Lionel Messi made it 2-0 with a cool finish moments later, with David Villa adding his side's third just before the hour mark.

Cristian Tello added Barcelona's fourth when he found the bottom corner after 78 minutes, before Alvaro Vasquez scored a late consolation for Getafe.

There was time for two more goals, however, with Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique adding gloss to the score in the final couple of minutes.

Sports Mole now analyses the action at Camp Nou.

Was the result fair?

There is not a situation where anything other than a comprehensive Barcelona victory would have reflected the match this afternoon. They started the game in fine fashion, scoring twice in the opening 13 minutes, before dominating possession throughout the entirety of the afternoon. Getafe had just the one shot on target, with that attempt bringing their only goal.

Barcelona's performance

The Catalan outfit were able to rest players from the international break last week, but some things never change. Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the result was the fact that six different players got their name on the scoresheet, with Messi somewhat carrying the burden at times this season. They remain the side to beat in all competitions.

Getafe's performance

Getafe will not take too many positives from the match this afternoon, but their overall placing this season will not depend on results against the likes of Barcelona, rather against the teams around them on their home patch. Strong form in the early stages of the season has meant that they are not currently in a relegation battle, but their performances must improve.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Andres Iniesta: Even Messi had to play second fiddle to the Spanish midfielder, who has simply sensational this afternoon. He assisted his side's first two goals, before adding a strike of his own in the final stages. It was just a superb all-round performance from the playmaker.

Biggest gaffe of the match

Jordi Alba has been in wonderful form in recent weeks, but he cost his team the chance to record a clean sheet in the latter stages when he attempted a weak header back to Victor Valdes, allowing Vasquez to nip in front of the Spaniard and score a consolation for his side.

Referee performance

Ignacio Iglesias had a successful 90 minutes of action this afternoon. The Spaniard was not called into action on too many occasions, but was prepared to stop the play when he deemed it necessary. Neither team will have had many complaints about his performance.

What next?

Barcelona: The Catalan outfit resume domestic again away to lowly Granada next weekend before travelling to AC Milan in the first leg of last 16 Champions League clash on February 20.

Getafe: Getafe have a crucial couple of weeks coming up as they host Celta Vigo next weekend before travelling to fellow strugglers Real Mallorca one week later.
