Barcelona will be bidding to make it three straight victories in Spain's top flight when they travel to San Mames on Sunday evening to take on Athletic Bilbao.

The reigning La Liga champions recorded a 4-0 victory over Getafe in the league last weekend, which left them third in their domestic table, eight points behind leaders Real Madrid.

The Catalan outfit are unbeaten since Xavi announced that he would be standing down as head coach this summer, winning four and drawing two of their last six matches in all competitions.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their contest with Athletic, who currently occupy fifth in the La Liga table.

Alejandro Balde

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Balde will not play again for Barcelona until next season, having had an operation on the hamstring injury that he picked up against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey towards the end of last month.

Gavi

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Gavi suffered an ACL injury while representing Spain over the November international break, and the midfielder is set to be missing for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

Marcos Alonso

Status: Out
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: Unknown

Alonso was recently forced to undergo an operation on a troublesome back issue, and he will not be available until at least the middle of next month.

Ferran Torres

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: March 8 (vs. Mallorca)

Barcelona will again be without the services of Torres this weekend, with the attacker damaging his thigh in the clash with Osasuna at the end of January, but he could potentially return for the team's next game.
