Belgium record an impressive 3-1 home victory over visitors Italy, thanks to goals from Jan Vertonghen, Kevin De Bruyne and Michy Batshuayi.

Goals from Jan Vertonghen, Kevin De Bruyne and Michy Batshuayi have given Belgium a comfortable 3-1 victory over visitors Italy this evening.

Italy started quickest out of the traps and they found an instant opener through Antonio Candreva, who made use of Graziano Pelle's initial saved effort to convert beyond Simon Mignolet after three minutes.

Candreva was guilty of missing two decent opportunities that followed, before Vertonghen was able to climb highest to meet a corner from De Bruyne in order to put Belgium back on level terms 10 minutes later.

Vertonghen was soon back into the action early in the second half, but the Tottenham Hotspur defender saw his smashed effort fly just too high of the goal frame.

The majority of efforts continued to come from range after half time, Radja Nainggolan the next to go for glory, only to see his shot fail to test the hands of an unmoved Buffon in the Italy goal.

Manchester City's De Bruyne was able to turn the fixture on its head after 74 minutes, though, as the playmaker drilled into the bottom corner from the centre of the box to give Marc Wilmots and his men a 2-1 advantage.

Italy might have found an equaliser not too long after losing parity, but Pelle was denied by Mignolet with a smart save down low as the keeper was able to keep out the striker's header.

Instead it was Belgium who found the next goal thanks to Batshuayi, who profited from a through-ball from Yannick Carrasco to finish neatly into the bottom corner and leave the final score at 3-1.
