Tyler Adams in contention to return to Bournemouth squad against Sheffield United

Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams could make his return from injury in Saturday's home meeting with Sheffield United.

The USA international has struggled with injury since joining the Cherries from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Adams has played just 20 minutes for Andoni Iraola's side, having been out for the majority of the season due to hamstring issues.

However, Adams recently stepped up his recovery by playing for Bournemouth's development side on Tuesday, starting in a 5-0 victory over Colchester United's under-21s side.

Iraola has now revealed that Adams is making progress and could be included in the matchday squad for Saturday's clash with Sheffield United at the Vitality Stadium.

"I don't think we will recover anyone ahead of the weekend but while Adams is not still fully ready, he played 30 minutes with the development squad this week," Iraola told reporters at Friday's pre-match press conference.

"He's feeling well in the process, we could put him on the bench because we have spaces for him. Personally, it may be a good thing but he's continuing his process and still lacks more training. But he's doing well."

While Adams could make his long-awaited return from injury, Bournemouth are unable to call upon Marcos Senesi after the Argentine was forced off against Burnley last weekend.

"Marcos got injured the other day, he is out," Iraola said. "He will not even travel with the national team, so obviously he will not be part of the team for these games. He has a strain in his hamstring and will be out.

The Cherries are also without the services of Ryan Fredericks, Lloyd Kelly, James Hill, Ryan Christie and Max Aarons.

Meanwhile, there are doubts surrounding the availability of Dominic Solanke, who is continuing to manage an ongoing knee problem.

"Dom is in a similar position to this past week," the Bournemouth boss confirmed. "He hasn't trained fully with the team, we are trying to put him in the best positions to play tomorrow.

"Hopefully he'll train normally this evening with his feelings we will take the decision much like we did last week. He's been playing through pain, sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse. We're trying to manage it with these two games we have, we don't want to put too much training on him.

"He is someone who has played and trained a lot of minutes, he's been very robust this season and maybe he doesn't need to train as much as other players. I hope he can play as many minutes as he can but it's something we're dealing with."

Bournemouth are currently sitting in 13th place in the Premier League table with 11 points separating them from the drop zone.
