Steve Cook: 'Red card changed game'

Bournemouth defender Steve Cook believes that Harry Arter's sending-off was a pivotal moment in his side's 1-0 defeat to West Ham United.

Bournemouth defender Steve Cook has claimed that Harry Arter's sending-off during his side's Premier League clash with West Ham United changed the game.

The Cherries were level at 0-0 when Arter was shown a second yellow card 12 minutes from time, but Michail Antonio went on to score the winner in the 85th minute to hand the Hammers victory in their first Premier League game at the London Stadium.

Cook believes that his side were worthy of at least a draw, but warned that they need to "learn quickly" if they are to overcome a disappointing start to the season.

"The sending-off was huge - it changed the game. I felt we were the stronger side in the second half, so it's hard to take. I felt we were pushing to get the winner," he told the club's official website.

"Even to have kept a clean sheet would have been brilliant. We need to learn quickly. Two games and no points, it's very disappointing."

Bournemouth will take on Morecambe in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before facing Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
