Brazil break French resistance

Goals from Oscar, Hernanes and Lucas Moura see Brazil defeat France in Porto Alegre.

Brazil have beaten France for the first time in six games thanks to goals from Oscar, Hernanes and Lucas Moura in Porto Alegre.

The first chance of the match fell to Josua Guilavogui in the 16th minute, but the 22-year-old could only direct Yohan Cabaye's free kick wide of the mark just yards from goal.

Neymar failed to capitalise on a great cross from Oscar in the 32nd minute, firing wide after the Chelsea star found him at the back post.

Fred missed another decent opportunity for the home side just before the break, meaning that the two teams went into half time on level terms.

The Selecao continued their dominance after the restart, with Hulk going close just before Oscar opened the scoring.

Les Bleus have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three games against Brazil, but goalkeeper Hugo Lloris could do nothing to stop the diminutive 21-year-old from firing the hosts into a 54th-minute lead.

He nearly made it 2-0 moments later with an ingenious back-heeled flick from Hulk's cross, but the ball floated just by the post.

A flowing counter-attack was rounded off by Hernanes, as he rifled beyond Lloris five minutes from time, but the victory was wrapped up Moura, who converted from the spot after Mathieu Debuchy had brought down Marcelo.

The result means that Didier Deschamps has won just one of his six games in charge of the French national team.
