Manchester City Women will continue their title push when they travel to the Broadfield Stadium for Sunday's Women's Super League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion Women.

The Citizens are currently sitting in second place, while the South-coast side head into the weekend in ninth position.

Match preview

Brighton are well set to extend their top-flight stay into a seventh consecutive season after they thrashed Bristol City 7-3 in their most recent league outing to move eight points clear of the basement side.

An Elisabeth Terland brace as well as efforts from Pauline Bremer and Tatiana Pinto gave Brighton a 4-1 lead, before the Robins netted two quickfire goals to cut the deficit to one.

However, Mikey Harris's side subsequently registered three late goals to take their tally to seven and round off their third away league win of the season.

Unfortunately for Brighton, they were on the wrong end of a sizeable scoreline last weekend as they fell to a heavy 4-0 defeat in their FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United.

The Seagulls will now turn their focus back to league action, and they will have the opportunity to clinch consecutive WSL victories for the first time since February/March 2022.

Man City will have to pick themselves up for Sunday's contest after seeing their hopes of achieving a treble fall apart in the last two matches.

After being eliminated in the League Cup semi-finals by Chelsea, the Citizens looked set to return to winning ways in last Sunday's FA Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Gareth Taylor's side led for the majority of the game following Mary Fowler's sixth-minute opener, but they ultimately conceded a 96th-minute equaliser to send the quarter-final tie to extra time and penalties, where Spurs kept their composure to win the shootout via a 4-3 scoreline.

Despite experiencing cup disappointment, Man City still have the chance to make the season a successful one, with the Citizens in the hunt for their second-ever WSL title.

They have won each of their last nine league matches, and if they can record another victory on Sunday, they will move level on 40 points with leaders Chelsea, who beat Arsenal 3-1 in Friday's WSL offering.

Team News

Forward Taylor Smith recently left Brighton after being recalled by National Women's Soccer League club Gotham FC.

The hosts are still unable to call upon full-back Poppy Pattinson, who will serve the final game of a three-match ban.

Terland will continue to lead the line for the Seagulls, having scored 11 goals in 15 league appearances this season.

As for the visitors, they are still having to cope without the services of defender Steph Houghton and midfielder Jill Roord.

Taylor has confirmed that Bunny Shaw will be available despite being forced off in the second half of the FA Cup defeat to Tottenham.

Chloe Kelly dropped down to the bench last weekend, but the England international is expected to return to the starting lineup for Sunday's contest.

Brighton & Hove Albion Women possible starting lineup:
Baggaley; Kullberg, Bergsvand, Thorisdottir, Carabali; Losada, Zigiotti Olme; Robinson, Pinto, Bremer; Terland

Manchester City Women possible starting lineup:
Keating; Casparij, Aleixandri, Greenwood, Ouahabi; Angeldahl, Hasegawa; Kelly, Park, Hemp; Shaw

We say: Brighton & Hove Albion Women 0-2 Manchester City Women

Brighton have struggled defensively in the WSL this season, and we think that they may struggle to contain a Man City side that is currently the league's second-highest scorers.
