Neil Warnock to receive "reasonable" transfer funds

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan reveals that he will back manager Neil Warnock with a "reasonable" transfer kitty in the January window.

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock will be backed by a "reasonable" transfer budget when the window reopens next month, owner Vincent Tan has revealed.

The Bluebirds have enjoyed an excellent first half of the campaign and currently sit third in the Championship table - out of the automatic promotion places on goal difference - although they have lost their last two league games.

The Welsh side had a net spend of just over £4.5m over the summer, and Tan has promised to open his cheque book again to aid in their promotion push in the second half of the season.

"We will spend some money. A reasonable amount, no silly money, those days are gone," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "The current team is comparable [to the last promotion-winning side]. The only one difference is, I think, the previous team we spent over £20m and this team we spent not so much.

"I'm enjoying it because I don't spend silly money any more. When you are not spending silly money it's not too bad. We believe we will spend wisely and we have a great manager who will spend wisely, who will not buy players that we don't even play or start. So we will spend some money, but not a lot.

"We trust him to bring in the right players. He has done that. Neil has the knack of bringing in players who do not cost us a lot, but can perform. Overall I think we are in great shape and I hope we will be blessed with a promotion."

Warnock has previously earned promotion to the Premier League with Sheffield United and Queens Park Rangers.
