Gary Cahill: 'Chelsea's title charge damaged by Crystal Palace defeat'

Gary Cahill admits that Chelsea's Premier League title chances have been 'damaged' following Saturday's defeat to Crystal Palace.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has admitted that losing to Crystal Palace on Saturday has 'hurt' the club's Premier League title ambitions.

The Blues have dropped to second place in the table following their 1-0 loss at Selhurst Park courtesy of an own goal by John Terry.

Jose Mourinho's men are now two points off the pace following Liverpool's surge to the top after comfortably beating Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 at Anfield on Sunday.

Cahill believes that the West London outfit may have left themselves with too much to do after slipping up over the weekend.

"If I'm totally honest probably, yes, that's certainly how I felt at the end of the game," Cahill told the club's official website.

"It hurts losing any football match and it certainly hurt at the end of the game because we knew how vital three points would be. For us to not get them is very damaging.

"It's massively disappointing, the feeling at the end of the game was horrible but all we can do is keep pushing and try to win our games."

The Blues will switch their attention to the Champions League this week as they prepare to take on Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their quarter-final tie in Paris on Wednesday.
