Mauricio Pochettino comfortable with Chelsea attacking options after Armando Broja exit

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino says that he is comfortable with the attacking options at his disposal after Armando Broja departed Chelsea for Fulham on loan.

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that Chelsea have enough central-attacking options for the remainder of the season.

Throughout the January transfer window, the Blues were heavily linked with a number of forwards, but they ultimately opted against strengthening their squad.

However, the green light was given for Armando Broja to make the switch to Fulham on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

That was despite the Albania international making eight starts and 11 substitute outings in all competitions during 2023-24 in what has been his comeback campaign after a serious knee injury.

Although the 22-year-old contributed just two strikes under Pochettino, he offered a more physical presence than any other attacking players in the senior ranks.

Nevertheless, addressing the media at a press conference on Friday, Pochettino indicated that he had no doubts about allowing the academy graduate to make the short move across West London.

Speaking to reporters, the Argentine said: "I think it is a very good thing for him to have the opportunity to play more. I think it is a good move for him."

When Pochettino was asked to speak on his present options, he added: "I think it is important to recover Christoph, and today, arrived Nico Jackson.

"Also, we should not forget, Deivid Washington is here with us. I think the options that we have up front is enough."

Christopher Nkunku has been restricted to just 175 minutes of Premier League football this season due to knee and hip injuries respectively, but he scored his second goal in the 4-1 defeat at Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Nicolas Jackson has been absent since the turn of the year courtesy of representing Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations, but he has netted just once for Chelsea since the November international break.

Brazilian youngster Deivid Washington has been restricted to just two brief substitute outings in all competitions, yet he will seemingly be used as backup to Nkunku and Jackson.

Chelsea play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers, who trail them by just two points in the standings, on Sunday looking to record their fifth successive home victory in the Premier League. body check tags ::
