John Terry urges Chelsea to keep playing with "quiet arrogance"

Chelsea captain John Terry urges his teammates to continue playing with "quiet arrogance" after dropping points against Southampton on Sunday.

Chelsea captain John Terry believes that he and his teammates need to keep playing with "quiet arrogance" after they dropped points against Southampton at the weekend.

The Blues remain at the top of the Premier League table with a three-point lead, but they failed to move further away from Manchester City in the standings following Sunday's 1-1 draw at St Mary's.

The match was dominated by referee Anthony Taylor's controversial decision to book Cesc Fabregas for simulation after the Spaniard was brought down in the penalty area.

While Terry is adamant that his side should have been awarded a penalty, the defender has urged his teammates to "maintain" their style of play.

"We were a lot sharper in the second half," Terry told the club's official website. "We know we're playing well but teams out there are making it tough for us. We are top of the league and everyone wants to beat us or upset us.

"It's about putting a good run together now. We are playing some really good football and it's important we maintain the way we're playing and the mentality we are playing with as well - a kind of quiet arrogance."

Chelsea's next game is away to Tottenham Hotspur on New Year's Day.
