Colorado Rapids and DC United played out a goalless draw in their MLS clash at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
The home side dominated possession early on and Drew Moor came close to opening the scoring, but he lifted his shot over the bar from inside the box.
Deshorn Brown thought that he had given the Rapids the lead when he latched onto Atiba Harris's cross into the area, but his shot was saved by a great reaction stop from Joe Willis.
Minutes later Brown spurned another great chance to open the scoring when Willis came for a cross and dropped it at the feet of the striker, who could not adjust on his left foot and fired the ball wide.
After the break, United nearly punished Colorado for their missed chances when Carlos Ruiz broke upfield on a counter-attack, but his left-footed shot was well saved by Clinton Irwin, who got down low to his left to make the stop.
Colorado upped the ante late in the game in search of a winner but Willis wasn't to be beaten as he denied Nick LaBrocca and Brown yet again to earn a point for his side.
