Roy Hodgson: 'Too late for apology from Sam Allardyce'

:Headline: Roy Hodgson: 'Too late for apology from Sam Allardyce': ID:318308: from db_amp
Roy Hodgson says that he "did not lose any sleep" over disrespectful comments made by Sam Allardyce in the past, but admits their relationship is now no longer as strong.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has insisted that it is "far too late" for Sam Allardyce to offer an apology after mocking him over his speech impediment.

As part of an undercover sting that would ultimately cost him his England job after just one game in charge, Allardyce was filmed referring to Hodgson as "Woy".

Ahead of this weekend's meeting with Everton at Goodison Park, Hodgson admits that his relationship with the man who temporarily succeeded him in the England hotseat is no longer as strong as it once was.

"Do you like being insulted? No, not particularly. Did it bother me? I didn't lose any sleep over it," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference. "My relationship with him before, I always thought was good. Now I would expect it to be less good.

"Would I like him to apologise? No. It's far too late. It has gone. It belongs to the distant past. In jobs like I am doing at the moment when you are the manager of a Premier League club, you live very much in the ultimate present and the future.

"I'm not interested. I've said what I've got to say. I've come here to talk about Crystal Palace Football Club and Everton Football Club. It could have been Ronald Koeman against Frank de Boer."

Hodgson spent four years in charge of England prior to stepping down after the humiliating defeat to Iceland at Euro 2016.
