Alan Pardew: 'Philippe Coutinho among Premier League's finest players'

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says that how his side combat Philippe Coutinho will determine whether or not the Eagles can win at Liverpool.

Alan Pardew has reminded Crystal Palace of Philippe Coutinho's ability ahead of their trip to Liverpool, insisting that he is one of the Premier League's most dangerous players.

The Brazilian dazzled in last Saturday's 3-1 win at Chelsea, scoring twice as the Reds earned their first league win under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

Next up for Klopp and co is a visit of the Eagles on Sunday, and Pardew says that failing to combat the 23-year-old could result in dire consequences for Palace.

"Coutinho is probably their best player at the moment in terms of the level he is at," the Palace boss told a press conference.

"And I don't think anyone in the Premier League would disagree that he has been in the top five players offensively this year, so he is somebody we need to take care of.

"Whenever you go to Liverpool they have got world-class players and you are going to have to look after them and make sure that you defend very, very well."

Palace won 3-1 on their last visit to Anfield, with Brendan Rodgers in charge of Liverpool at the time.
