Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson admits to feeling "hard done by" after his side are held to a 2-2 home draw by Everton.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has said that he feels "hard done by" after his side twice squandered the lead to settle for a share of the spoils at home to Everton this afternoon.

James McArthur put the hosts in front with less than a minute on the clock at Selhurst Park but parity was restored just five minutes later when Leighton Baines tucked home after the Toffees were awarded a contentious penalty.

Wilfried Zaha then restored his side's lead, only for Oumar Niasse to level the scores up again on the stroke of half time as both teams then held on for a draw in a goalless second period.

The result extended Palace's winless league run to four games and left them rock bottom of the Premier League table with just five points on the board all season.

"We feel hard done by, I suppose. I don't think we could have played a lot better," Hodgson told reporters afterwards. "The goals we conceded were unfortunate - the first was a dive, and the second was our doing as we committed harakiri and it let them back into the game. But we really did boss the game, playing some excellent football.

"We have dropped two more points. Mistakes happen, don't they? Being wise after the event doesn't serve any purpose at all. We have got no-one to blame but ourselves.

"I can't ask for more than I got from the players today, but I must admit to being bitterly disappointed. It is not enough just to give players credit for a performance - as a manager I was to see some points on the board."

Next up for Palace is a home fixture against Stoke City next Saturday.
