FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea's reported move to Stoke City appears to be in doubt with the American club demanding a bigger transfer figure for the 22-year-old.

The talented playmaker was expected to arrive at the Britannia this week to undergo a trial period at the Premier League club, but he did not make the trip with his club demanding more money.

According to ESPN, Stoke value Shea in the region of £2m, but Dallas are demanding a figure of almost double the number that had been agreed.

Shea, who is regarded as one of the best prospects in the United States, has been linked with a number of European clubs in the past.
