Jesse Lingard: 'No reason why England cannot win World Cup'

Jesse Lingard is pleased with the "great team spirit" within the England camp and sees no reason why the Three Lions cannot go on to lift the 2018 World Cup.

Jesse Lingard has hailed the "great team spirit" within the England camp and has not refuted the possibility of the Three Lions going all the way at the 2018 World Cup.

Gareth Southgate's charges secured their second consecutive win in Group G as they ran out 6-1 winners over Panama in Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday.

Lingard, who struck arguably the pick of the England goals with a powerful top-corner effort from outside the box, is delighted with the nation's progress so far in the tournament and believes that anything is possible.

"It is an amazing feeling, even better that we won," Lingard told BBC Sport. "We are top of the table and can go into the Belgium game with confidence.

"It is great to be around the lads, there is a great team spirit at the moment."

When asked whether he thought England could go all the way, Lingard replied: "Of course, with the squad we have got and the confidence flowing I don't see why not! But we will take it game by game."

England, who top Group G ahead of Belgium by virtue of having fewer booking points than the Red Devils, go up against Roberto Martinez's side in Kaliningrad on Thursday.
