Having seen their two-game winning streak end last time out, Heerenveen will do battle against Feyenoord at the Abe Lenstra Stadion on Sunday.

The visitors, on the other hand, will be looking to make it back to back victories off the back of a return to winning ways in their most recent outing.

Match preview

Feyenoord eased past the threat of Heracles with relative ease as they claimed a 3-0 triumph when the sides faced off at De Kuip on Sunday.

Arne Slot's men put themselves in the driving seat at half time thanks to strikes from Yankuba Minteh and Santiago Gimenez before Igor Paixao sealed the deal 17 minutes from time.

As a result, De Stadionclub remain second in the Eredivisie table, 10 points behind division leaders PSV Eindhoven with nine matches left to play.

Next up is the challenge of an opposing outfit who are winless in the last six editions of this fixture across all competitions, losing five of them.

Unbeaten in five of their last six matches away from home either side of the new year, Sunday's visitors set out to secure another positive result on the road.

Heerenveen were denied a third straight victory in a 2-0 defeat against NEC Nijmegen at Stadion de Goffert on Sunday afternoon.

Kees van Wonderen's men fell behind to Koki Ogawa's opener midway through the second half before Rober Gonzalez doubled the deficit moments later.

With 31 points amassed from 25 matches so far, De Superfriezen sit ninth in the standings, albeit just two points shy of European contention.

Ahead of the final international break of the current season, Sunday's hosts will be keen to give their continental chase a massive boost this weekend.

Team News

Feyenoord duo Gjivai Zechiel and Calvin Stengs miss out through knee injuries, while Gernot Trauner remains sidelined with a torn muscle.

The visitors will also be without Justin Bijlow and Alireza Jahanbakhsh who are currently nursing shin and hip injuries respectively.

Luuk Brouwers and Ion Nicolaescu are both guaranteed absentees for Heerenveen this weekend, although the latter is closing in on a return to action.

Twenty-seven-year-old Pelle van Amersfoort has found the back of the net four times in his last five home outings, making him one to keep an eye on here.

Heerenveen possible starting lineup:
Van der Hart; Braude, Van Beek, Bochniewicz, Kohlert; Haye, Olsson; Walemark, Tahiri, Sahraoui; Van Amersfoort

Feyenoord possible starting lineup:
Wellenreuther; Hartman, Hancko, Beelen, Geertruida; Timber, Zerrouki, Wieffer; Minteh, Gimenez, Ivanusec

We say: Heerenveen 1-3 Feyenoord

Both sides have had little trouble finding the back of the net of late, and we are expecting an entertaining clash. We can also see the away side coming out on top at the end of the 90 minutes.
