Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League One clash between Fleetwood Town and MK Dons, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Fleetwood Town will be hoping to turn some of their recent draws into wins in their bid to avoid relegation, starting with their clash with high-flying MK Dons at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The hosts drew for a third consecutive game at the weekend, whilst the visitors' excellent recent form continued with another hard-fought win.

Match preview

Fleetwood came away with another share of the points on Saturday, this time drawing 1-1 at fellow strugglers Shrewsbury Town.

Anthony Pilkington netted the opener midway through a solid first half from Stephen Crainey's side, but they were pegged back immediately after half time through Luke Leahy's penalty for their hosts.

As mentioned above, the draw was the third in a row for the Cod Army, but it does also mean that Town have lost just one of their last six matches in their quest to avoid the drop out of League One.

With Morecambe drawing themselves at the weekend, the gap between them and Fleetwood remained at two points on Saturday, with the latter lurking just two places above in 19th.

If Crainey's men can begin to turn those draws into victories in the coming weeks, they will be set to enjoy a relatively comfortable finish to the second half of the campaign, and if they manage to achieve that on Tuesday, Fleetwood could climb to as high as 16th in the table.

Meanwhile, the visitors' goals this season remain at the other end of the table, with MK Dons heading into Tuesday's clash in third spot.

Sunderland's shock defeat at home to Doncaster Rovers, coupled with Liam Manning's side edging out struggling Lincoln City by a 2-1 scoreline, helped them leapfrog the Black Cats to within one place of the automatic promotion spots.

Wigan Athletic's participation in the FA Cup on Saturday also meant that the Dons cut the gap between the Latics and themselves to just one point, although their fellow promotion hopefuls now boast four games in hand.

However, the only destiny that MK Dons can control is their own, and Saturday's victory over Lincoln was their fifth in their last six games, so they are certainly doing all they can to ensure the pressure is maintained on the top two in League One.

Harry Darling and Warren O'Hora netted the goals for Manning's side on Saturday, in what turned out to be a hard-fought comeback win against a struggling outfit.

An improved performance may be needed in the week if they are to overcome another relegation-threatened side, but MK Dons have the top two in their sights heading into the back end of the campaign.

Team News

Fleetwood look set to be without several first-team regulars on Tuesday evening, with Callum Camps's sending off for dissent in injury time on Saturday adding to their injury concerns.

The midfielder will be suspended for the visit of MK Dons as a result, and he will be joined on the sidelines by the injured duo of Brad Halliday and Darnell Johnson.

Captain Jordan Rossiter nears a return from a four-month absence, whilst the important Gerard Garner, Harrison Holgate, Josh Harrop and Joe Garner are all doubts as well.

As for the visitors, no fresh injury concerns from the win over Lincoln means that midfielder David Kasumu is the only confirmed absentee for them.

Aden Baldwin is also likely to join him on the sidelines though, with injury keeping the defender out of their last four matches.

The likes of Hiram Boateng and Mohamed Eisa could come into the side for Conor Coventry and Troy Parrott.

Fleetwood Town possible starting lineup:
Cairns; Johnson, Clarke, Jules, Andrew; Lane, Biggins, Batty; Morris, Harrison, Butterworth

MK Dons possible starting lineup:
Cumming; O'Hora, Darling, Lewington; Watson, McEachran, Boateng, Harvie; Corbeanu, Eisa, Twine

We say: Fleetwood Town 1-2 MK Dons

Although Fleetwood have improved of late and have been difficult to beat, we are predicting the high-flying visitors to continue their strong form and come out with all three points on Tuesday.

The hosts are missing a number of important players and MK Dons should possess too much quality for them in their near fully-fit squad.
