Fulham manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Andreas Pereira will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

Pereira was stretchered off in the second half of Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City following an accidental clash with Manuel Akanji.

Tim Ream was also forced off in the same match with a suspected broken arm, and Silva stated after the game that the defender would be sidelined for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday's away meeting with Liverpool, the Fulham boss has revealed that Pereira will also miss the final five games of the season.

Silva told reporters: "Tim Ream has broken his arm and will be out until the end of the season and the situation of Andreas Pereira in terms of this season will be the same, he will play no more.

"We are waiting for more updates from the examinations, an MRI as well, and when we are going to be more sure about everything we are going to give more feedback, but both are not going to play more this season."

The Fulham boss went on to add: "When one player has broken his arm and one has a serious injury in his ankle, it's not really a normal scenario, a normal thing. It was really an unlucky afternoon for us when these type of things happen.

"But we have to be ready, now is the moment for us to recover them really well, as fast as we can, and support them in everything we can, because they have been so, so important players for us this season."

Fulham have since released a statement to confirm that Ream and Pereira will both require surgery for their respective injury issues.

"Ream fractured his right arm and will have surgery tomorrow [Wednesday]," said a statement on the club's official website. "He is expected to be fit for when the squad returns for pre-season.

"Andreas fractured his ankle and will undergo surgery today [Tuesday]. Following his surgery and during his rehabilitation, we will be able to provide a further update on when he is likely to return to action, anticipated later this year."

Pereira will finish the season with five goals and six assists in 38 competitive appearances, while Ream has featured in 35 games this term, finding the net on one occasion.

Having picked up 45 points from 33 Premier League games this season, Fulham are sitting in 10th position ahead of Wednesday's trip to Anfield. body check tags ::
