Neil Warnock open to Leeds United exit

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock admits that he is open to leaving Elland Road after coming under fire during yesterday's defeat to Manchester City.

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has admitted that he does not plan to stay at Elland Road if the club are in the Championship next season.

Warnock was loudly jeered by Leeds fans throughout yesterday's 4-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City, with audible chants from the away end calling for the manager to leave Leeds.

The 64-year-old has admitted that he has been frustrated by slow progress in Yorkshire and will leave at the end of the season if owners GFH Capital want him to.

When asked by reporters what he thought about calls for his exit from supporters, Warnock replied: "I have spoken to them and if they think it will help them, I'm not against it. Whatever is best for Leeds United, really. I am bit long in the tooth for all that.

"It's my contract. It's up in the summer and there is no way I want to stay in the Championship next season. The club has known that all along. My one intention was to go up, that's why I am living away from the family. My wife let me have one more go at winning my eighth or ninth promotion.

"I came at a difficult time and I think, with what has gone on behind the scenes, I deserve a medal, to be honest."

Leeds sit 12th in the Championship and are currently eight points away from a playoff place.
