Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's injury and suspension news ahead of Wednesday's Champions League clash with AC Milan.
Sports Mole

In a repeat of the 2005 and 2007 Champions League finals, Liverpool kick off their 2021-22 edition with a home clash against AC Milan on Wednesday night in Group B.

The six-time European champions could only muster a quarter-final finish last term as they fell to Real Madrid's superiority, but Jurgen Klopp's side have started as they mean to go on this term.

Liverpool enter Wednesday's game on the back of a 3-0 success over Leeds United in the Premier League, although the victory was marred by a horrific injury to one of Klopp's men.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

Roberto Firmino

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Roberto Firmino would have been cleared to play against Leeds after the FIFA-imposed ban on Brazilian players was waived, but the forward is nursing a hamstring problem and is set to remain sidelined for a little while longer.

Harvey Elliott

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Teenage starlet Harvey Elliott was the victim of a horror tackle from Pascal Struijk at the weekend and left the field on a stretcher. Klopp subsequently confirmed that the 18-year-old suffered a dislocated ankle and will now begin the long road to recovery.

Takumi Minamino

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 15 (vs. AC Milan)

Takumi Minamino picked up a thigh injury while representing Japan earlier this month - the attacker was not fit in time to face Leeds and remains doubtful for the visit of Milan.

Neco Williams

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Wales international Neco Williams remains out of contention with an ankle issue and is expected to sit out his side's Champions League opener.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for this match.
