Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is hopeful that Daniel Sturridge's thigh injury is not serious following the striker's goalscoring performance against Bayern Munich.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge suffered a thigh injury in Tuesday's pre-season win over Bayern Munich, but is hopeful that it is "nothing serious".

The striker, who has been plagued by injury problems over the last few years, appeared to hurt himself while scoring the Reds' third goal in a comfortable victory over Bayern in the Audi Cup.

The England international chipped the ball over goalkeeper Sven Ulreich to add to the scoreline, but he pulled up shortly afterwards and had to be substituted after just 20 minutes on the pitch.

After the match, Klopp told reporters: "[Sturridge] has prepared really well and I just hope this is a small injury and he can play again soon.

"The goal was great, he had a chance before that. You can see how fast he is and it's a shame. I hope it's nothing serious."

Klopp recently claimed that Sturridge was in the best shape that the manager has seen since his arrival in October 2015.
