Eddie Howe: 'Bournemouth have deserved more for performances'

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes that his side have deserved more from their performances during their ongoing five-match winless streak in the Premier League.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has claimed that his side have deserved more from their recent performances during an ongoing five-match winless streak in the Premier League.

The Cherries host top-four hopefuls Liverpool on Sunday with just one point now separating them from the relegation zone, having picked up only three points from the last 15 on offer in the top flight.

Howe believes that his side were unfortunate not to get more from their midweek defeat at Manchester United, but acknowledges that accruing points - rather than putting in encouraging performances - needs to be his side's priority.

"In Wednesday's performance we were good in a lot of the game, I've been pleased with the majority of performances recently, we've not had the rewards but then that's the game. The game is about points, about winning. The demands are extreme so we're well aware of what we have to do, we have to try and get points against everyone; it's about maximising what we can get," he told the club's official website.

"I felt we deserved something in our last game, we had a real threat but it wasn't to be. Hopefully we'll get a better result on Sunday. To get four points from [Liverpool] last year was good but they're a different team this year and will be extremely tough on Sunday.

"We have a tough run of fixtures and we're still in the Carabao Cup, so the key is we have to make sure everyone can play at their best levels. I want the players to be fresh enough to perform, I will speak to the players concerned and see how they feel."

Bournemouth won the corresponding fixture 4-3 last season, memorably coming from behind to earn a last-gasp victory over Jurgen Klopp's side.
