New Liverpool signing Loris Karius has said that he joined the club with the intention of becoming their number one goalkeeper.
Simon Mignolet has been regularly criticised since arriving at Anfield three years ago, but has remained Liverpool's first-choice for the vast majority of that time.
However, Karius has warned the Belgian that he would not be happy sitting on the bench following his £4.7m move from Mainz.
"I wouldn't make the move otherwise if I thought I was just going to sit on the bench," he told reporters.
"I want to play and I feel like I will be able to do that if I do well in training and pre-season and the pre-season games. I'm confident. I've played almost 100 league games in Germany, so I'm young but I'm experienced. I'm not afraid of anything.
"I want to be in goal and play for Liverpool every week and then win a trophy with the club, that's what everyone wants. I want to do my part and help."
Karius, who has put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the club, becomes Jurgen Klopp's third signing for Liverpool after Joel Matip and Marko Grujic.
