Brendan Rodgers: Crystal Palace defeat was "turning point" for Liverpool

Brendan Rodgers credits Liverpool's defeat to Crystal Palace back in November as the "turning point" for his side's season.

Brendan Rodgers has credited Liverpool's defeat to Crystal Palace back in November as the "turning point" for his side's season.

An abject performance saw the Reds suffer a 3-1 reverse on their last trip to South London before an upturn in displays saw them move to within four points of the top four in the Premier League.

He told BT Sport: "Certainly that was the turning point. The last game here we were very disappointing, and credit to Palace, they exploited that. From that we've changed it around mentality-wise and we've been on a great run. It's always a tough game, but we've got a strong team and want to continue the momentum.

"The FA Cup is right up there, we'd like to win the FA Cup and put some silverware in there because they've been brilliant, this year. We've been playing two games a week for four months and they've shown their character. It'll be a real challenge."

The Reds visit Selhurst Park without Steven Gerrard and Raheem Sterling, and the Northern Irishman provided an update on their respective injuries.

"Steven's got a hamstring, so we'll see how he goes over the next two weeks," he added. "Raheem has a problem with a foot and we hope he'll be back in training next week."
